In fact, Spanish youth are fifth from the bottom in Europe in terms of development and independence. Only 19.4% of Spaniards manage to become independent before the age of 30, and those who do, mostly do so at the age of 29, the average age of emancipation in the State.
Fortunately, there are different financial aid programs for young people, which aim to facilitate access to housing. In this post, we tell you about the 2 most important ones!

To apply for the aid, you can do so in person at the local offices or electronically on the website of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
STATE HOUSING PLAN
The State Housing Plan is a law enacted by the Government, which establishes a series of rental aid programs to facilitate access to and permanence in a home under a rental regime for sectors of the population with limited economic resources.
This aid is processed through the Autonomous Communities, so there will be certain aspects that will vary based on the community in which we are located. Also add that these aids are activated according to the dates decided by the communities themselves.
- Requirements
Be of legal age and under 35 years of age -inclusive- at the time of applying for aid.
Be the holder or be in a position to sign a contract for: housing lease, as a tenant, transfer of use, as a transferee or rental or transfer of use of a room, as a lessee or transferee.
That the home is your usual and permanent residence.
The annual income of all people residing in the home subject to the aid is equal to or less than 3 times the IPREM (€24,318.84).
Careful! It will be 4 times the IPREM for children of victims of gender violence and 5 times the IPREM for people with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%.
- Rental income limit
The monthly rental income cannot exceed €600, extendable to €900 by the Autonomous Community.
If you only have a room rented or assigned for use, the rent may not exceed €300 per month, or €450 if the Community justifies it!
- Amount of aid
The amount of these aids is up to 50% of the monthly rental income of the habitual residence, for 5 years!
- How to apply
Rental aid is managed through the Autonomous Communities. Therefore, it will be necessary to find out in each autonomous region the deadlines that are established each year for its application; here is the case of Catalonia.
The documentation to be provided may also vary to some extent in each autonomous community, although the requirements established by the State Plan will be common to all communities.
