How to make a move and not die trying

October 21, 2020

In this post, we give you 7 tips to make a quick and effective move so that you can enjoy your new home as soon as possible.

It is said that you don’t know how many things you have until you make a move. That’s why it’s important to organize the whole process. Plan which days you want to keep the things in your old house, whether you are moving in one day or in several, and decide which days you want to put everything in the new house.

Clean up before you start

There is no point in moving all kinds of objects to the new home so that they end up in the rubbish. It is much easier to make a first cleaning of everything that is no longer useful and throw it away or do not need and give it to people who can take advantage of them.

There is also a trend towards applications for selling second-hand objects. If you want to get rid of some of your belongings and earn some extra money, it can be a good option.

Another important aspect to bear in mind is to spend the days before the move everything you do not want to take with you, such as frozen food, cleaning products, etc.

Start packing the items you make least use of

The easiest thing to do is to start by putting away everything you don’t make serve during your day-to-day life. This way you can start earlier and leave boxes ready. You can start with the books, clothes that you have saved that are not seasonal or all those things you have forgotten in the drawers.

Be careful with fragile objects

Remember to protect all those objects that can be broken with bubble wrap or newspaper. Don’t forget furniture with glass or similar materials. Use sturdy boxes for the heaviest things. This way you will avoid having any trouble opening the boxes in your new home.

Have everything you need for your day to day life at hand

For a while you may feel that your life is in chaos. Having everything stored in boxes is not easy, so it is advisable to leave everything you make serve every day until the last minute and keep it at the last moment. Also, having it located when you arrive at the new house will make you feel more relaxed.

Label as much as you can

It is normal to want to go quickly and store everything from different objects in one box or to fill boxes without knowing what you are putting inside. All the work you can save at the time of packing will be lost in the new home, where you will find everything in the same boxes without knowing where to put it.

It is important to invest a little more time in labeling all the boxes and know what is stored in each one to make unpacking much easier.

Valuables (also sentimental) under control

Moves can be a bit chaotic, really. Therefore, it is advisable to keep all those valuable objects such as jewellery, documents, objects of sentimental value such as photographs… in a single box and always keep it well located to ensure that nothing essential is lost.

Time to celebrate

After getting through everything that a move entails, you deserve a good celebration of your new home. Once you have everything ready, invite family and friends to get to know your new home and enjoy!

Although at first sight a move may not seem an easy process, we are sure that patience, organization and a positive attitude are the key to making it a success.
