Decoration trends for 2022

January 8, 2022

If you are one of those who like to keep changing the decoration and keep up with the latest news, or if this year you are buying a new house or flat and you have to decorate it from scratch, don’t miss this post with the new trends in interior decoration in 2022.

1. Natural and local materials

Sustainability is more fashionable than ever. We have been seeing the trend of natural materials for some time now, but now we are adding the fact that they should also be materials that are as KM0 as possible. Join this eco-friendly lifestyle and look for eco-friendly furniture and fabrics that are made from sustainable, recycled and recyclable materials, handmade or manufactured in an environmentally friendly way.

In today’s high-tech world, make your home allow you to connect with nature. Opt for natural and organic materials, such as wooden floors, stone, daylight and plant life, elements that remind us of the outdoors and nature.

2. Wabi Sabi

In relation to the previous point, the Japanese Wabi Sabi trend comes into play. Although it is not a specific decoration trend, we can apply it to our homes.

Wab is the representation of rustic simplicity, understated elegance, freshness or stillness while “sabi” is the beauty or serenity that comes with age, when the life of the object becomes evident in its wear and tear.

Items inherited from previous generations, second-hand market finds, DIY projects, folk art and vintage pieces coexist nicely in these new decorating styles, providing textures and different colours.

3. Nordic and industrial. They are back with a bang.

The industrial style was very fashionable a few years ago and is back to stay. This style stands out for using untreated materials such as metal, wood or entire brick walls. The furniture is generally simple and discreet. The decoration is minimalist, as what stands out are the architectural features.

The Nordic style, on the contrary, is a style that stands out for very luminous spaces, the colour used par excellence is white and seeks simplicity in the use of wooden furniture, creating a simple, functional and comfortable atmosphere.

4. Fibres and fabrics

They will be the protagonists when it comes to decorating your home, in two objects in particular:

Fibre ceiling lights: bring a rustic and warm air into your dining room with a natural fibre ceiling light over the table.

String rugs: Typical to see on chairs and armchairs, both indoors and outdoors.

5. Neutral tones or colours inspired by nature.

Earth tones such as beige, browns, greens, blues… flood your home in shades that transport you to nature. You can opt for more neutral colours as a base for walls, ceilings and earth and give a touch of more intense colour in accessories such as curtains, pillows, furniture…

6. Less is more

Minimalism takes importance, having less things and that these are of higher quality and last longer. If you want a modern home, ask yourself what you can eliminate, what you can pick up and hide from view and what is really essential in your home.

Greenbuilding

A sustainable building has to meet the five ‘pes’: People, i.e. quality of life and well-being. Prosperity, through local and fair economic development. Planet, the protection of our environment. Peace, promoting harmony and harmony. Pact, the involvement and commitment of all for all. These parameters can be measured by taking into account where the building…
